Biofuels International NPT 2025 Outlook

Biofuels International January/February issue highlights through leading biofuels figures the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead for the industry over the coming 12 months. Sarah Ellerby, CEO of NPT, gives her 2025 Outlook.
Sarah acknowledges the advancement of SAF commitments through global mandates and notes the UK’s 2% SAF use becoming law at the start of the year and a Revenue Certainty Mechanism anticipated in 2026. She specifies in order to deliver on SAF commitments by governments and airlines, investment is required into the industry, including into clean technologies to provide a diverse range of pathways to enable SAF production.
Details of NPT’s REFNOVA® proprietary 2G technology is also discussed and its ability to unlock lignocellulosic non-food derived biomass into ethanol and biochar. The bioethanol delivers significant negative carbon intensity and can be further processed through the AtJ pathway into SAF. The biochar can deliver an immediate decarbonisation impact through sequestration and enable a negative CO2 emissions profile.
Looking ahead, Sarah concludes: “2025 is a pivotal year for Nova Pangaea Technologies. As a scale-up, we embrace growth, evolution, and adaptability. Our progress reflects the resilience of our talented team and the strength of our partnerships. Scaling isn’t merely about expansion; it’s about learning, innovating, and strengthening our impact. Together, we are shaping a sustainable future for aviation and beyond.”
